Region: Douro – Baixo Corgo sub-region.
Origin: Quinta D’Azinheira is located in the genuine village of Azinheira, in Santa Marta de Penaguião, in an amphitheater of extraordinary natural beauty, on the left bank of the Corgo river. The wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on the property at an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres.
Among the greatest legacies left by previous generations are the old vines, planted in schist soils with high stoniness, and aged between 40 and 80 years. A living heritage that expresses the authenticity of the region.
Winemaking and ageing: The fresh grapes, at their ideal ripeness, were hand-picked into 20 kg boxes and carefully transported to the winery. After a careful manual selection, they were destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation took place in stone "lagares" with mechanical treading and pumping over, and temperature control.
Aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels. Bottled in November 2023.
Physicochemical profile: Total acidity: 5.8 g/l | Volatile acidity: 0.90 g/l | pH: 3.85 | Residual sugars: 0.3 g/l | Dry extract: 47 g/l.
