From an old vineyard, planted in 1850, between 200 and 250 meters of altitude, with carefully hand-picked grapes, we produce a unique Douro wine born from a terroir in the Upper Douro sub-region near the village of Almendra. Poor, schist soils contribute to a unique profile and an expression of Douro interpreted as in the past: fresh, complex and structured, without any tartaric correction. The grapes arrive at the winery in 20 kg boxes and are directly transferred to the press. Fermentation began just 3 days after the grapes entered the press, during which time a large part of their essence was extracted through maceration. Fermentation was spontaneous with indigenous yeasts. The new and used French oak barrels.
