Inhospitable Old Vineyard Roncão

The Inóspito Vinhas Velhas Roncão Tinto 2022 is born in the heart of Cima-Corgo, between Vilarinho de Cotas and Casal de Loivos, where the Douro still breathes that ancient charm that only centennial vineyards can offer. This red wine is the offspring of three micro-parcels planted around 1900, authentic living museums where more than 45 grape varieties grow side by side, in poor clay-schist soils and exposed to altitudes ranging from 250 to 400 meters.

Harvested by hand and treated with an almost ceremonial respect, the wine enters the winery in 20 kg boxes and goes directly to the lagar, where a three-day pre-fermentation maceration extracts the best from the fruit. Fermentation is entirely spontaneous, conducted only by indigenous yeasts, and the aging takes place in new and used French oak barrels from the Bertrange forest, for a total of 18 months.

The result is a Douro wine like no other: fresh, taut, mineral, with vibrant natural acidity and a character deeply connected to the place. No corrections, no modern makeup — just the pure expression of the terroir and the wisdom of the oldest vines.
