Royal Companhia Velha Sparkling Wine Pinot and Chardonnay Brut

Real Companhia Velha Brut Sparkling Wine is the result of a careful selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, primarily from Quinta de Cidrô in São João da Pesqueira, with a portion of the Pinot Noir harvested at Quinta do Casal da Granja on the Alijó plateau. The Cidrô terroir, due to its altitude and mild climate, allows for a longer vine cycle, enabling both the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to be harvested at the perfect time for sparkling wine production. This beautiful Quinta, although located at 550m altitude, has poor, schistous soil, resulting in lower yields, which gives this sparkling wine excellent texture, volume, and acidity. In contrast, at Quinta do Casal da Granja on the Alijó plateau, the richer soils and even cooler climate result in fresher and more aromatic wines. Through deliberate thinning, in order to preserve a high level of natural acidity in the grapes, the greenest bunches are picked and vinified in small stainless steel vats as bases for the final blends.
